A wire brush takes off rust and scale, cleans back a surface and knocks the burr off a cut edge. Abrasive nylon cleans and finishes. The filament is the first thing to settle, because it sets how aggressively the brush cuts and what metal it can safely go on. We stock SIT and Rocket brushes in hand, wheel, cup, end, bevel (conical) and tube shapes.
Crimped wire is the lighter-duty choice for general cleaning, and twist knot wire the more aggressive one for heavy scale and weld spatter. With abrasive nylon, the material comes off under control. A cup brush covers a big flat area quickly, an end brush gets into corners, recesses and T-joints, a conical brush sits in a V-weld or fillet, and a tube brush works the inside of a pipe or tube. A hand brush does the spot rust, weld prep and general clean-down. Not sure which brush? Our brush buyer's guide walks through the filament, the shape and the wire style, plus the max safe speed and thread that have to match your tool.
